  1. Welcome to the forum! Glad to see you made it over here, Lots of great people here and hands down the best information and subject matter experts for Honda ATVs and lots of other stuff too... See you around!
  2. That is the change clutch outer guide, it slides onto the mainshaft before you put the clutch basket and thrust washer on Page 10-17 and 10-18 of Honda Service manual for the 05-11 Foreman 500 -or you just slide it into rear of change clutch basket before you put it on Hope engine is not assembled at this time.....😃 Link to the Foreman 500 manuals, was not sure on your model or year but the Hondas are generally the same for that particular part https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QvEKFzoIUuZ809T18CwVIDToUJfelcG-
  3. Nice projects! hoping to find something new soon All the ones I have now just need to be buttoned up Hoping its the chain-fingers crossed!
  4. Are you sure that you were on compression stroke when checking? There are 2 top dead centers- one on compression stroke and one on exhaust stroke Make sure the flywheel " T" mark is centered in the viewing hole and you have to have the piston on TDC right after the intake valve closes If you were on the exhaust stroke TDC, the exhaust valve would be open normally You also might have your exhaust valve too tight if the rocker does not wiggle at TDC and that would also make your compression low Try loosening it a bit and then check compression, it wont hurt if its a little loose for testing, it will tick a bit but you can put it back in spec when you home in on thre problem area
  5. Nice---I liked the idea when I first saw them, but wondered how well the solder flowed into the joint and if it made a cold joint Looks pretty good to me on that last picture where you cut it in half I might put a little flux on the wires to help the joint, but I am going to pick some of these up for sure
  6. I sent you a contact message so you can contact/ text me directly about getting it repaired Thanks
  7. Hi Minty, Is the board functional at all? I do circuit board repair as well, I would think it would depend on what was bad and if the board was repairable Send me a few pics of your circuit board or if you want to message me directly, I will give you my phone number to text, if thats easier
  8. Glad to see that you got it all back together and that it is working well I was wondering why you put black tape over your led lights?
  9. Thanks for the update and the kind words, glad to help out fellow riders and forum members If anyone has any non working parts speedometers for the Foreman 450 or Rancher 350 please let me know and we can work it out, as at this point I am completely out of spare parts for repairs
  10. I know -while I was driving fast in the dark all freaked out, I had like the Jaws theme, Psycho shower scene music and Halloween movie soundtrack all going in my head at once Its funny how your mind can run away like that-but it was scary at the time for me as there was no answer for what happened and then my spidey sense said to bail out of there.... Now if I saw bigfoot, I dont think it would scare me as much as ! me off if I couldnt get a good picture- A good camera seems to keep them away☺️
  11. I figure with as many riders and outdoor folks here theres bound to be a few good stories out there- Not super scary, but was never able to explain - I was riding in Maine when I lived on east coast when I was about 14 and was out on my TRX 200 heading back toward camp as it was getting dark. The pine trees were close in on each side of the trail, but far enough apart so you could move right along. As I came around a corner to a small straight section, the headlight lit up a round white rock about the size of a cannonball plunking right into the middle of the trail. It was like it was lobbed into the air and I just caught it in the headlight coming down as I came around the corner landing about 15 feet in front of the bumper. I stopped for a second to look around, thought maybe it was one of the guys from camp messing with me, as I was one of the younger guys. I squatted down and the rock was about 1/4 the way stuck in the soft ground, I rolled it off to the side and it was about 25 pounds or so. I hollered for them to come on out but there was no answer. I waited a few more minutes to see if I could hear or see anything but the pines and brush with the darkness made each side of the trail like a wall so I couldnt really see anything and couldnt really maneuver the ATV/headlight to see much ( maybe THATS why they put the removable headlight on the Foreman 350D) It seemed real quiet and I got the "willys" (hair started going up on neck) so I got on out of there and shot back about a mile and half to camp. Thats was a spooky ride back because I realzed the noise of the motor and tires was obscuring my ability to hear anything around me riding through the tight trail in the dark.I kept looking back over my shoulder, as it was full on dark now and the weird red glow of tailight backlit behind me about 5-6 feet then it was pitch black so that was spooky. I thought something was going to grab me from behind and I just got my self spooked and was going faster and faster coming around corners on two wheels at times and dodging trees Nothing more happened on the ride and when I got back to camp everyone was there. I told them what happened and they swore it wasnt them. We even went back to look the next morning after breakfast and the rock was still there as well as the impression it made. We looked for footprints or signs but the damp thick pine needles obscured everything. We took the rock back to camp and as far as I know its still there to this day Back then we never thought too much about it, other than weird, but now with all the bigfoot stories going around, who knows.... Never had anything weird happen to us out that way again but 6 years after, there was a hunter a about 5 miles from our camp who told my uncle had a big log put across his trail after he came back down trail within 30 minutes of turning around. He could not move it and had to and drive into woods and go around, so that was weird too Anyways that all I got- hope to hear your stories

Glad to hear it made it back safely! Let me know once you get it all back together and all is well Fingers crossed that you get some warm dry weather there soon Dont feel bad, I still have 18" snow on ground and its 2 degrees out I love Winter but this time every year Im about ready for some change
  13. My success rate has improved so much with this after getting a good set of cobalt bits, drilling slow and using cutting oil Man -those black oxide cheapo bits.........dont know how I got along without Cobalt bits ( I got a good set from Drill Hog USA, they will replace bad/broken bits for life, no questions) Also had good luck welding a nut on then spiining it out or building up a flush broken bolt and then welding a nut on I have a low success rate with extractors,-once in awhile though, with some heat, PB Blaster and tapping with a hammer, I get lucky -always scared to break off a tap in a hard spot- man that ruins the mood quick 😠
  14. No, thats plenty of time, just wanted to make sure I was not doing something wrong For some reason I had it in my mind that we could always go back and edit on here I will just proofreed better next time, I was in a hurry to get out to the garage and all that
  15. Good to know that tire tire sizes dont have to be different in the front and rear. I never realized gearbox differences were a fraction of a fraction Usually up here biggest I have run or seen, were 24 front, 25 rear on the fourtrax 300. I still tend to think much bigger than that has to be hard on design of engine, transmission and gearboxs without a gear reduction or 424 switchout to take some load off, especially with the big lug tires. Thats just me though, as I tend to try and keep things stock or close as I can. Things tend to break easier when its gets around zero and below When you are 15 miles back in 10 below, its a long cold hump out on foot when something lets go, it gives you time to ponder if bigger tires helped to blow out your gearbox Those rear gearboxes arent getting any easier to find lately... Its such a small, lightweight and well designed workhorse of a machine, definately dont make em like that anymore- gotta take care of em............ Speaking of 424s- I was looking for the push pull cable if anyone has one, if not I will order the rebuild kit from Wide Open if they still have them I just dug through my shed and found one I had for a Foreman 400 to install and found another old one I had for the Rancher 350 that had a bad cable and button They were both Warn, so I thought that was a good forgotten find. Going to mount them up on a couple wheelers I am going to pass along when it gets warmer Hadnt heard the news till now on Wide Open discontinuing the 424- guess I better check it out soon
  16. Hope its not the rear end-maybe u-joint let go on the rear drive shaft? Man- 28's woould seem hard on a stock rear end for sure Are you maintaing a 1 inch difference between front and rear tire sizes? The gearbox ratios on those call for 1 inch smaller in the front I know that can put a great deal of strain on the drive train if not, especially with oversize tires more so on hardpack or pavement Hope your tranny is ok too Good let and let us know what you find
  17. A Big Welcome! You are in the right place with all those Honda ATVs.......☺️
  18. Wanted to ask what the timeline is to edit posts once created? I see I had a few spelling errors etc on a post and when I went back, was unable to edit Dont want to be looking like I need one of those Diplomas from the University of SPAM over across the way ☺️
  19. I sent them ( ADMIN) a note a few days ago too, no reply-no action Shocked- as I waded thru 9-9 pages on the Foreman 450 page and it was ALL (Chinese?) SPAM Sad to see the Forum in a death spiral Time to put out the invite to all to come on over here......
  20. (just kidding it was sent into to me for reprogramming) This is what happens to your speedometer milage and hours when you run without a battery or let it go dead -( which is really hard on your stator and voltage reg too) This is actually a 450ES-notice the gear position area is missing, which is common as well sometimes the miles and hours go to all 999999999.s or mising also FYI- I have a new EEPROM file for the Foreman 450ES that I can load It is 942mi and 109hrs, if that is closer to your original speedometer reading
  21. How many miles do YOU all got on your Foreman 450S? Put some miles on mine this Season................. Man these Honda ATVs last FOR-EV-ER
  22. LedFTed PM'd me with his problem and just mailed it to me, I not close to anbody unless you live in Alaska haha The biggest thing is you dont have to send the whole speedometer in, just the circuit card in the pictures. It only costs 5 bucks or so First Class Mail that way Thanks everyone for the comments, glad to help where I can I recently found out some dissapointing news when attemping repairs on an other speedometer I had laying around for Rancher 400AT with "GPScape" (corny name, never liked it) If your Speedometer has images on it when its turned off, like the Rubicon, Foreman 500, Rancher 400 etc.... those are printed directly onto the front polarizing film When that film gets sun damaged and burnt there is no replacing it to original, as those films are created at the factory. You could replace the film and would have the LCD data show as normal but all the writing such as "fuel" and dividing lines for the sections, etc would not be there Best keep 'em covered up when not in use PS Anybody got a good Speedo glass for Rancher 400 w/GPScape? ............................................................................See my point?
  23. I just finished repairing a speedometer display with heavy sun UV burnout for our member LedFTed this morning I wanted to show results of UV damage repair, other than the reprogramming that I do Before and after pics below- my phone reflection in 2nd picture- not screen defect .....😊
  24. Welcome, you're in good hands here
  25. Glad to hear that they found the problem and it was done under warranty Let us know for sure after you ride it for awhile
