  1. Just bled the brakes on this thing again. Still don’t have a firm lever. Bled both sides multiple times. I’m seeing NO air. Pinched the line going out of the MC and the lever is rock hard. I noticed the caliper on the left side shifts a bit when I squeeze the brake. The right side does not move.
  2. Nope. One was just the mount.
  3. Here’s the other one. If it’s a gun mount, anyone have a pic of the whole thing? might work for a handlebar light, but kinda overkill for that.
  4. Yep, bad one way means no engine braking. My 06 500 is intermittent. I'll start and a hill and be coasting, blip the throttle and it will catch.
  5. Brake shoes were missing. I'm wondering if this thing didn't have a new axle, hubs, and diff installed with old brake panel. Doesn't make sense that the diff would be in perfect shape with a brake panel with a shot bearing and no brake shoes. The stuff on the diff looks like a skim coat of Hondabond. Camera makes it look clear, but it's grey.
  6. Anyone know what these things are? I've bought 2 300 frames/ parts bikes in the last 6 month that had these on the handlebars.
  7. Had a local young guy come into my office this week to talk about installing some water bottle filling stations, and we were chatting and he asked if I knew anyone who could rebuild a 450 engine. After an hour of babbling, he brought me a 300 rear end that needed work, and when I'm done with it, he's going to bring me the 450 bottom end to go through, and send the jug off to G&H (he said he can put the top end on) He picked up the 450 for a couple hundred bucks. Had been flooded at a deer camp when the river came up. He was quoted $1500 by a guy down in MS who worked at a dealership, but who also does side work. I figure it will need a crank, thorough cleaning, seals, top end. @shadetree, what kinda timing chain you use in these things. OEM is $150! But before I get to that, I told him I'd go through his 300 rear end. He dropped it off yesterday. Said he paid $100 for the 300. Runs, no smoke, pink fenders, and this rear end issue. I expected a trashed stock rear end, and instead I got a weird one. Tore it down this morning. Found OEM bearings that were tight. A 5 min dunk in the parts cleaner and the diff proved to be in excellent shape. Axle was the same. Nice square splines with no corrosion under the hubs. The rear brake panel, on the other hand, was where the problem was. Trashed bearing. I've never see the brake bearing look like this, especially given the shape of the rest of the rear end.
  8. Not much done to this one this week. I did get a new (to me) set of brake lines yesterday and installed them this morning before work. The old ones were stretched out on one side and the brakes didn't act like they wanted to bleed.
  9. That's the problem with nice places. They attract people, and you'll get the bad with the good. At least around here nobody is really moving here. Lots of people leaving. Most see it as a bad thing. I don't necessarily agree. I hope enough stick around to keep enough businesses in town just for the sake of convenience, but otherwise, they can all go! The western states are going to be covered by people fleeing california. They'll destroy those states just like have CA. Like a plague of locusts.
  10. I have a buddy with a lawn service. I fix his Hondas, he sprays my yard. He hasn't broken anything on his Hondas this year, so I didn't get the yard sprayed!
  11. Welcome to the forum. So it won't start without starter fluid, but once you start it with starter fluid it won't anymore? Have you sprayed starter fluid around the intake boot between carb and head with it running to see if it speeds up (leaky intake boot)?
  12. Well that just sucks. At least you caught it before the stink started.
  13. I'd check that crank very carefully. I have yet to rebuild a single 350 Rancher motor that didn't need a crank. The wristpin to connecting rod fit gets loose and you'll never get it to stop smoking without replacing the crank. I've seen someone who had an oil pump seize when a needle bearing roller found it's way into the pump. "Got a friends 350 that just had a single roller from a small needle bearing find it's way in the oil pump and locked the pump up and broke the drive teeth on the balance shaft. Figured out if was from a starter replacement a while back when the snout of the starter broke off in the rear crankcase cover and the small needle bearing must've left a roller in the bottom of the motor. If you've done a starter recently that broke, check the needle bearing in the snout of the starter because the oil pump will draw it up the suction tube!"
  14. Electric are sure nice to have around the house.
  15. Well it's still rough as heck, but apparently not as rough as other brands. Of course, when you're mowing 5 times faster than normal, it's going to be a little bumpier! Like it a lot so far, but haven't used it but 3-4 times. Been dry here for the last month so my zoysia hasn't needed mowing.
  16. If yall haven't figured it out yet, I gots the ADD. I tend to jump around working on things. LOL Been using Dad's new Ferris zero-turn (took me from 2.5 hours with this old JD to about 25 minutes with the Ferris mowing my yard) so haven't used this one lately. Then Dad got all weird again and said I had too many weeds in my yard, and that if I used his mower without pulling them, the weed seeds would stick to the mower, fall off in his yard, and sprout (keep in mind he has the worst looking yard in the neighborhood, spends all day, every day, trying to hand pick weeds on an acre+ lot). So I pulled this old 112L out and mowed with it again. I pulled the deck up and did a few turns and, surprise, surprise, it turns like a champ with the deck up. Looks like I need to adjust the deck position. When I got the mower the deck was hanging loose. I'll look at the other 112L I have and set the adjusting pins in the same spots, see if it helps.
  17. Haven't messed with it lately. I normally only get to work loudly on weekends, and last weekend was the wife's birthday, so haven't been able to get the grinder out to cut off the cage.
  18. "For sale, Honda Rancher. Never sunk, just needs carb cleaned."
  19. I take the opinion that anyone should be able to whatever they want as long as it doesn't affect others/ harm others. If some pothead wants to fry his brain, or I want to drink 20 beers, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, why not? I don't want someone telling me that I can't drink a case of beer, and I don't have the right to tell someone else they can't smoke a plant. Of course, that means I don't have the right to ask them (society) to pay for my cirrhosis, and they don't have the right to ask me to pay for medical problems they may have from smoking. But as far as them telling FF "I guess it's ok"......I would have been polite and tried to respect their space, but I wouldn't have asked permission........FF I guess you're a nicer person than I. LOL

yeah if you use those brickseek links, put in your zip, it will show you what area stores have in stock. Limited stock means they have at least one showing in the system My local store dropped this morning. Got a Henry 38/357 that will go to the father in law for Christmas, $169, and a Savage 243 for my kids to deer hunt with, should they ever want to. It was the wood stock Savage with a scope, so was $74. After the rebate, $25 gun. They had about another 1/2 dozen guns still in stock that were on clearance, but they were on background check hold for people. If your background check doesn't instantly clear, they hold the gun for you until the ATF clears you, up to 30 days. If you don't clear in 30 days, it goes back on the rack. So if you see something you want, and it shows "limited stock", go ask. If they say it's sold, ask specifically if it's on background check hold, or if it sold. If they say it's sold, and it shows up in brickseek, they're lying, and then you mosey around to Karen a manager.
