  1. sounds like a front end alinement issue, what road surface are you riding on ? pavement will eat soft compound tires up on a full time 4wd, not only from alinement issues , but also from from drivetrain wind up.
  2. just my personal opinion on plastics... as you take more layers off, (if you've never done it before) then polishing does, plus plastics are softer... then metal, but I'm not a body guy, lol, but if i was... I'd sure try it on scrap plastics before I'd ever go on honda plastics, and goober has had good luck with polishing, intend to listen to those who have been there, have the shirt, and goober does.
  3. i can relate to that, lol! half breed bikes... i hated when a Polaris came up to the shop, and JL always had me work on them, for the 1st year, told me you have to start at the bottom ... and work your way up to Hondas / Harley's ... lol! .... that's why I'm a die hard honda guy now.
  4. is this the machine ? if so, I'm not familure at all, but sounds like it could a ignition switch / starter button issue, maybe a blown fuse ?

    Weather

noaa is usually late on weather updates, here, I've heard MTEARS actually do the warnings before noaa, then noaa broadcast those... my go to is my own weather station, kind of gives me an idea of whats coming bar pressure, humidity, wind direction, and speed, but i also depend on radar close, to see whats coming in. ... also get reports from THP ... on road / weather conditions along with DOT, and online info drags up on the lower scale of information, but, having ham radio, and fire, ems, and emergency services live ... comes in real handy. along with 99.7 talk radio, local station in Nashville. both my big radios i have programed with FIPS https://www.weather.gov/pimar/FIPSCodes
  6. oh no, i agree, i wouldn't wet sand at all .... at least not on those, I've even seen people use heat to bring plastics back, the down side to heat is, it makes the plastics more brittle, and likely to easily crack.
  7. did he say what, or if he changed anything before it stopped running ?
  8. wheeler ... wish goober was here... i think he used a polisher ... along with novus 3 stage, maybe he will chime in, i know one thing it sure made a defrence in his, i think he even posted pics in the old forums, might have even posted some here.
  9. yeah, it's about time ... lol .... from your other post, I'd say that's a nice good supply of wood, now on to wrenching!

@56Sierra NOAA , too, plus local live MTEARS sky warn amature radio. but i get more better live reports from this this thread, about weather all over, nothing like getting reports from people who are there.
  11. thank you, i was sure .... i mentioned above from you earlier post about using the emergency shifter, just covering as many bases as we can to narrow this down. besides the vin... what got me was .. when you pulled that fuse, it started shifting again , but it was also said you pulled the fuse and put it back in, and again it started shifting, you went back with a new oem angle censor, but .the shifting was still part time i see several post about the shift motor ... was it replaced with a oem ?? or a china made ? it might be posted here, and i just over looked or missed it. ... if it is oem, plus a new oem angle sensor ... could be just a small loose wire connection / short, from the what PO did. next question .... does it act any defrent when it's cold, or hot, or when your riding and shift while turning right or left ?
  12. goober you didn't show the tank with mud lites ... and the mounted snow plow ...
  13. just to clear this up, SOME ... which switch does yours have ? 1st, << (ES) or 2nd pic ? from what I've read so far ... should be the 1st pic. doesn't look like the service manual will be of much help. the more pics we have the better.
  14. thank you for the post and pics, Mac , very interesting! and it's about time you showed up more often. lol.
  15. hey that works! you keep on finding them, lol ... that a good problem to have!

  17. i think he already covered the oil filter in the right way a few pages back.... just take a look at the engine he built, he has some mad mechanical skills, IMO.
  18. that one shouldn't last long, being there getting very rare. nice find, Mac. @Jemmons467 had mentioned he would like to have one, but his bike is a 2000 450ES.
