  1. i just hope he's okay from last nights... painting mishap.
  2. yep, fish, had to think for a few, then just went and looked, if you didnt get any on the inside ? i wouldn't think it would be an issue, but like you say who knows. did you twist the bars to see if the cable might be binding up ? fish makes some really great points especially what did the PO do.
  3. i think this one had a cracked backing plate, and the cam on the brake looked rough also. I don't if he ever replaced ether of those, i think the pics are on the 1st page ?
  4. how much free play on the rear adjusting nuts ? yeah it that should do it i keep mine tight enough that there's just a tad bit of tension on the brake arm. when you apply the hand brake, then let off, and turn the bars does the lever go all the way forward ? and is the new cable routed the same as the old one ?
  5. rear bakes might need to be adjusted up, or it could be the cable trying to drag / lock up, when you apply the rear brake from the hand brake lever, do the rear brakes stick ?
  6. simple fix ... take the long bolt with all the added eyes connections etc stick it in terminal mark the thread take the bolt out screw the nut on the bolt till the mark shows on the bottom side cut the end of the existing threads off with with drimmel cut off wheel etc that's how i do mine.
  7. yeah, that's another reason i never got into spray guns ... pop spent more time cleaning the gun, then painting, if memory severs me right he would fill the cup with thinner (pure thinner) shake the gun around to mix it then spray it into a clean metal can, i couldn't say how good it worked, but he used the same gun for years.
  8. i don't if this will help, or not, but when i apply rattle can paint the thinner coat the better while the previous layer is still somewhat soft. probably my ipad acting up, just that one pic fish, no big deal.
  9. i don't have much experience using a spray gun, I'm just a rattle can man, or brush like fish does, my dad was a wiz at spraying with a gun when he painted some of his classic cars, and tractors, i just did the wrenching. lol, that was more to more my liking. lol, it was kind of a reverse to hold that flash light, but more like pop hand me that wrench, plz sir. lol.
  10. looks good from what i see, think you have this whooped!!
  11. should be marked implement, farm, or industral paint, i can't see the pic fish posted.
  12. oh boy new tires ? what did you have in mind ? check this thread out. good information here, just don't go with china tires.. lol! https://atvhonda.com/topic/75-favorite-tires/
  13. covid shot after effects ??
  14. with those aluminum plates, that's almost impossible to keep them from getting bashed up. i knew it was a mistake when they came out with those. a half inch steal plate would sure hold up, freebo, lol! if you looking for a perm deal, the yep a 1/8 inch steal plate bolted on, you could even dress up with stainless steal, aluminum checker plate. kind of like fish did here, credit for the pic goes to @Fishfiles
  15. i like the way you do your threads details details, and pics, you killed it on the es shifting thread.
  16. many here say shindy carb rebuild kits ..... if you can't find an oem kit. just tossing in, i myself would go with a shindy too. but i would go with what retro said fuel tank then go from there. what's got me is the bike runs fine after it's running, ever see a gas puddle under the bike after it' sits for over night ?
  17. plus one ^^^^ also gives a history of the bike if the plug has been in a while ? , the fuel system, and engine are in great shape!

    Weather

joint pain is a sign of low pressure moving in, or a weather change due to low pressure, lot of the older people here including myself, haha! can tell when low pressure is here, my right shoulder goes to hurting. but i couldnt say what weather is moving just that the pressure is dropping. arthritis ... in the joints.... is one way, I'm sure there are other joint issues that do the same when atmospheric pressure changes.
  19. thank you! a back history if one can find out, is very helpfull sounds like the bike was well taken care, and like you say didnt have a hard life, and not tinkered with.
  20. glad to help. my friends is a later model side mount distributor, not a front mount like yours so had to get holt of a tractor guy who deals in very old models, and he told me where the timing adjustment is, but also said ... if yours ran before.... with a description of the steady rpm whether what direction the throttle lever was in sounded to him like a governor along with a carb issue, he recommended cleaning and rebuilding the carb, and checking the governor status.
  21. oh okay that explains alot, wow! 40 bikes, sure would like to have seen them, bet he had some really classic models.
  22. thats okay retro, thank for looking. i appreciate it very much! i masked and painted mine, so i can live with, i never use it anyway, lol.
