  1. That's what I was thinking, and get the bottom nut tight as I can get it by hand then the top holder tight but loose enough to steer easy, handlebar nuts tight by hand am I right?
  2. Thanks cause I was already looking up torque wrenches. I got everything up there then socket wise.
  3. @retro @Fishfiles I was wrong and after looking back on other threads. I thought it was a tapored fit. @JaneFonda DISREGARD my comments I was thinking it's a tapored fit, every crank I worked was tapored.
  4. Please erase that reply that's blank. What I meant to say was I had 3 questions. 1. I don't have a torque wrench, and 51 foot pounds on tie rods? 2. Will I be able to tell the seals apart? 3. Is the collar strong, can I pray it out with a screwdriver and install with an extension? I'll give it my best go and ask when I get confused next week. Yes mines 2WD
  5. Just a guess on my part butt. Couldn't you if you get your parts next time measure everything and write it down what part measurements ect for each part names PN so you know ring size brand ECT ECT, you maybe able to cross reference next time you need parts after this vendor visit. What I'm saying get all the info you can on all specs of parts and you should be able to cross reference anything.
  6. Watch out and try to pull it off gentle first.
  7. So from what I'm making out, pull the steering arm after loosening the inner tie rods then pull the steering shaft out after getting the handlebar out of the way? Wish somebody had a picture so I can understand what I'll be up against.
  8. Not the aftermarket Chinese junk? I'm thinking about replacing my starter as my armeture didn't look good last time I had it apart 10 years ago.
  9. @retro right on. @AndrewTG if ya wanna check the CDI if ya can get to it fast enough if the engine don't kill, tsp with a screwdriver the vibrations should make it get a connection inside. I'd follow retro's advice Chinese or aftermarket electrical parts mean trouble. If your mechanically inclined ya can take every connection down and dielectric grease them so you know their good.
  10. I'd replace that pump with a factory one and check your wiring, I don't have the manual link but I'd ask and someone else may have the test procedure for the CDI to see if it's really bad. Ya said you had to hold the start button to keep it running, a test you can do hold the button, and tap LIGHTLY but repeatedly on the CDI if ya can get to it fast enough after letting off the button, it should stay running on its own. If not by by CDI. That's just my opinion though.
  11. Is the bearing and seals in the frame or on the backside of where the inner tie rods bolt up? Got a kit coming Monday and some real photos would be very helpful.
  12. @toodeep wow man Carnage what'd you do lol I gotta hear this story. @retro I agree with you while @Wheeler has it split I'm assuming, he would be wise to put a top end on it. G&H Discount ATV Supply makes one I know of. http://www.ghdiscountatvsupply.com/honda-atv-trx-300-fourtrax-engine-motor-top-rebuild-kit-machining-service/
  13. Yea, ya gotta be dead center though and protect the threads or it'll mushroom on ya.
  14. I was just wondering if it was worth replacing if the new kit had a seal but your probably right may not, plus I don't think anyone has any luck digging those out anyway. 👍
  15. No pick or screwdriver I have will go under that Oring and get a bite, I have thin picks, glasses screwdriver ect. How do any of you get this out, I'm thinking run as is. Over an hour and I'm letting it go. Ordered a new choke valve kit for the barrel. Arriving today.
  16. That's what I said lol, trying to steal my thunder haha.
  17. If one of the 450 engines you have in your shed I'm assuming. If it's out of the same year, why don't you swap the engine for right now, ride it then rebuild the original when you have time? Just a thought I had.
  18. I agree teardown needed. If it's like I think it may be " geo roator pump like a diesel, split the cases for metal debris, that's what I'd do if I was this fella, if is the pump type I'm thinking of.
  19. No need my family some are engineers so I when a problem like this comes up I think ok is it a design flaw or lack of care.
  20. Ok thank ya and yea I know but asked for the person that told me 12 thousands.
