building this for my neighbor 3 doors down, he's been asking all the time for a cheap 4x4 atv, so here i am, restoring a 1991 trx300fw. so far, case half is busted out where the pinion needle bearing sat. ring gear and pinion gear have some bad teeth on them, not sure i want to run them ?. big pinion bearing is shot, nothing but outer race still in diff case. here is some quick pics i just took.

17mm allen wrench, maybe a hammer or cheater pipe works very well slid onto the allen wrench, just unscrew the bolts, i do it this way all the time.

yes..i am serious, just unscrew the center 17mm bolts, don't worry about the lock nuts right now.

i run stock on all my atvs. k&n is not made for off road in my book.

why are you trying to fill a knuckle gap ?, if the knuckle is so worn, you need to resort to jerry rigging ?, then just buy another knuckle.

is plenty of fuel reaching the carb ?.

never heard of them ?. around these parts, we either use self tapping sheet metal screws, or bailing wire.

late to reply to this, no, there is nothing/no parts that can be replaced in these tranny's, the whole tranny has to be replaced. the was a person who could rebuild these ?, but i do not recall who it was ?.

yes he did !, i looked for one, for mine a couple days ago when i ran across this post, went to see if they had another ?, nope !. reason i went to look : i already knew honda discontinued them !..lol.

yeah, i just ran into this very same thing with my mower a couple weeks ago, worhtless on there...lol
