  1. How the choke operates is a good question. Typically chokes are used to temporarily enrich the fuel mixture and are not needed after the engine reaches operating temp. some chokes dampen the volume of air the carb will get upon startup. other chokes use an enrichment passage thru the carb body to draw additional fuel into the carb. Adjusting the pilot screw has a similar enrichment effect but like you used it for diagnostics purposes—you can get it started that way but then it won’t run right afterwards. i like how you’re being patient doing your homework and sticking with this project
  2. ATVs are not cheap—they’re performance machines. You got this for free? And you don’t want to buy the OEM part? I say don’t be that guy—fix it correctly. That’s where the value, performance and reliability of the ATV will be—plus the pride and knowledge that you challenged yourself to become a better mechanic
  3. i wouldn’t think any material would last—all that heat. lubing the threads could be a bad idea and result in over torquing of the header nut. then ruining the copper gaskets. My thought is that riding the quad often will prevent rusty nuts.
  4. OEM parts. Use the oem parts finder at Rocky Mountain atv and Partzilla sometimes when solenoid is bad the entire electrical system will dim when you hit the starter
  5. Does starter turn when you jump the solenoid terminals? Have you ever done this before? Because you have to short the terminals with a screwdriver while keeping your body and anything else from touching the screwdriver. It will spark A LOT if you’re not solidly connected so if it turns, you haven’t really isolated anything yet. But if it doesn’t turn, then you might consider replacing the starter. Or at least removing it to further inspect

thanks. Many of my friends like the idea of reloading but not the effort. You’re not going to save money on ammo but you will shoot more. I know my rifle a lot better now. was thrilled to take my antelope at 375 yards, 1 shot, with a handloaded cartridge that is not offered by the manufacturer. yes my chrono reduces bullet point of impact by a little over an inch. I work on muzzle velocity first, then seating depth to finetune group size.

Im Having good luck reloading. Trimming 7mm Rem Mag brass this morning. I’ve learned that my magnetospeed V3 chronograph changes the bullet point of impact. So i can work up muzzle velocities and relative accuracy, but if i want to sight in—gotta pull the chrono.

    Hello all!

👍🏻I have more 300 bits if you need them. Leftover from light restoration of my 93FW
  10. After a five day stalk, i got this nice young Pronghorn buck. He was with a herd of 15 coming out of an alfalfa field. Tikka T3x Superlight in 7mm Rem Mag with one of my hand loaded cartridges. 120 grain Barnes TTSX copper alloy going over 3400 fps. 375 yards DRT
  11. Is the SE valve sticking in the bore? I’ve had some do this when the valve oring swells a little. my Harley softail does it all the time!! I lubed the cable and changed the SE valve. Even worse now lol
  12. Did you use a high quality float valve? These early rancher carbs seem to be finicky about float valve seats.

    Hello all!

Welcome! Great first atv! How mch do you know about it? download the service manual from the forum folder titled service manuals use the oem parts finder at Rocky Mountain atv and Partzilla. Only buy OEM parts
  14. Grainger has them but with thinner mounting surface. So I ordered from lowes. you are getting slee pee … FullSizeRender.MOV
  15. No one has any here. I can’t just ask lowes to reorder for in store either. I ordered online and they will mail to me — no instore pickup. Urrps my !, but i gotta have em. eBay listed 10, but two different sellers —- two ship charges
  16. The well nut is a rubber expansion nut, in this case used to mount the fan guard. You push it into a blind hole in the drum frame and then thread a 1/4 x 20 x 1 inch truss head screw into a guard mounting hole. it keeps the guard from vibrating
  17. Rebuilt an older airmaster autumaire 420S drum fan. Replaced pulley and cleaned the motor, body and blades. I am still looking for 12 Hillman 1/4 x 20 x 3/4 well nuts to mount the fan guards. I bought all they had at Lowes now hunting haunting local hardware stores lol. Hypnotic sounds like a C130 engine IMG_9034.MOV
  18. Intermittent Fan control units for TRX300 and TRX400/450 ready to bake
  19. Ok here’s two pix of my leftover TRX300 parts. I can’t remember fo sho if this is a TRX300 master cylinder kit. It is missing the piston but looks like i put the old one in there. the rest of this is TRX300 stuff fosho. You’re welcome to what ya see here. Hardware to rebuild footrests, salvaged primer pump, straps, battery hold down bracket etc the harness i got from SamUK he said was for a TRX300 but i can’t tell—maybe a 450. PM your addy
  20. Yeah pretty sure i have it in a small box of parts for my 93; I’ll dig it out and see if you think would work.
  21. Oh yeah mine is the whole kit. Pretty sure Piston, spring, boot , c-clip and seal
  22. Fish I’m sure i have s brand new master cylinder piston if you want i can dig it up and send it. Not OEM i think quad boss
