  1. as retro said ^^^^..throttle held wide open, crank it over for a few secs, compression should climb as your cranking it over, if all you got was 50 psi ?, your not looking good engine wise. time to check the adjustment on valves , and pray you did not bend or break a valve from the cam chain stretched too much ?, and hitting the piston. as I told you pages ago, the cam chain was stretched by looking at your cam chain adjuster, THIS IS A MUST REPLACE PART !!!, if you crank it over as is ?, all your doing is applying damage to what you already have going on !.
  2. carb does not need to be on engine to do a compression test !!!.
  3. is those ^^^ pics before or after ?, if before ?..you call that carb dirty ????..lol. thats clean from what i've had my hands on through the years !!..lol. if its after ?, i'd say its ok ?, but I get mine super clean, clean enough to eat off of !..lol. and this is without an ultrasonic cleaner, all by hand, and parts washer.

  7. best bang for the buck ?, fuel line rated for fuel injection !. sold at most all auto parts stores, like autozone. you can't go wrong with this stuff !. its not cheap ?, but it sure works wonders through the years !. you need 3/16 ID if ya can get it ?, if not ?, 1/4 OD will work. pick up some small hose clamps while your there.
  8. no, i'm just deducting all the work in info with helping you in the past on your atv !..j/k..lol. hey..i'll be the first to tell ya, decals don't mean crap too me ?..ask anyone on here, they will tell ya so..lol. I just figured seeing how I was fixing my '89 baby up with new fenders ?, why not put a new decal on her ?. and if I dont use it on mine ?, I can use it on this '88 I am restoring !.
  9. a trick I do when putting air filters on the inner cage, oil or grease the lips of both the air filter and cage, makes it so much easier slipping the filter over the end. just start one edge up onto the metal cage lip, then from under the lip on filter side, carefully push the lip over the metal raised part on filter side as you work it around.
  10. I gotta agree with toodeep...stay oem stock air filter !!. uni lets too much small crap into the engine..trust me on this !!. do as you wish though.

  13. sounds like a bad fuel pump to me. a lot of the trx420's had problems with fuel pumps on them.
  14. haha..well..if you get the funds that high ?, i'll come over...but it dang sure wont be on a plane !..lol. if I cant get there by road ?, I wont go !..lol.
  15. sea foam is NOT the answer !. sure..it may cut down on troubles ?, BUT IT WONT SOLVE THEM IF LEFT TOO LONG ?!. want to keep things good ?, either drain the tank ?, drain the carb, or run it dry ?, or, keep the tanks full at all times, and use sta-bil, but even sta-bil wont solve long term problems.
  16. for the record OP, all atvs from honda use the letters and numbers like this -> trx300ex, they never have ex in front of trx :-).
  17. i'll be the first here to say, after having almost 300k miles on my chevy Silverado 2000 , 5.3L, noises drive me insane..spec when I can't narrow it down !..lol. just the other day I thought my idle bearing went out again, ok, replaced it again. well crap..still had that dang loud squeaky noise ??!!. crawled down under the front, discovered that the air conditioner belt tensioner was bad ?, what a pain that was to change out !. what sucks about all this ?, dealerships dont just sell you the bearing ?, THEY MUST SELL YOU THE WHOLE PART !..lol. well..little do they know...those bearings will swap out !..lol. I wont get into detail how or why , but I will say..yes..they can be changed out !..lol.

  19. not really, been taking care of RL stuff lately. Iast thing I did was tear the rear fender apart down to bare fender, and that is where I left off.

  21. also, I did read in places, those models had issues with the oil pump going bad, or defective ?, just some thoughts for you.
